Concepts
As I begin this second series of discussions, I am reminded that I purposefully skipped many details in the first series that seemed too mundane for deeper conversation. And yet there are many of these details that pertain to the daily lives of all Jedi. Therefore, I impose upon myself the goal of discussing these very minutiae about the Force, the Jedi Order, and the mysteries of the galaxy.
It is interesting to note that I ended the first series with a focus on the will of the Force, and that this many years after said writing did I find, in an address by Master Luke Skywalker, mention of this very concept. The will of the Force – it is a powerful phrase, if one stops to think about it. The Force is an all-encompassing, all-inclusive, ever-extending omnipresence throughout the galaxy, flowing through and between all living things and surrounding every piece of matter in existence. If we compare this to the presence of a single person, and consider the will of that person – the choices and actions of that person that guide itself and those around it – the will of the Force begins to look like an overbearing, overwhelming concept.
Many civilizations have had a belief in one supreme being or another, with accompanying value systems, morals, ethics, traditions, histories, practices, and legends. The most common religions surround themselves around a single entity that dictates and guides their lives. Could it be that all of these religions are inadvertently focusing on the same thing we Jedi hold to be true? The Force is ubiquitous enough to account for many of the mysteries of the galaxy, both in our minds and hearts and in the realities of everyday life.
It is a critical realization that the Force is as ubiquitous as I stated above. Whether or not they realize it, every single being in the galaxy has the potential to tap into the Force, as Master Skywalker says. And every single being in the galaxy has the potential to be guided by the will of the Force and make better the galaxy. By following the lessons of the first volume, while adhering to the concepts in the second, a True Jedi can and will fulfill all that the Force has in store. And by studying these ideals and meditating on them thoroughly, the vast nature of the Force will pale in comparison to the bountiful knowledge and understanding that come from following the path of the Light.
The Force will be with you, and guide you always!
